The project began in 2002 as a way to stimulate Latin American interest in animation. Currently available animation software is mostly proprietary, and not available to many people. In 2003, Colciencias , a Colombian governmental organization created for national scientific stimulation, agreed to supply financial support for the project. KToon is designed to function in a similar way to popular proprietary animation packages, like Macromedia Flash . It currently lacks a scripting language like Macromedia 's ActionScript , but it can export movies as AVI files and Flash animations. EXTERNAL LINKS |
