Glaciated Valley

Glaciated valleys are a common feature of the landscape of Wales and Scotland , as well as upland parts of England such as the Lake District . They are also found throughout Scandinavia , Europe , Canada and parts of North America .

A Hanging Valley is a type of glacial valley in which an earlier glaciated valley is cut through by a later and deeper glacier so that the stream in the valley bottom forms a waterfall into the deeper valley.

Terminal Moraine left by the retreating glacier is often sufficient to dam up the new river creating a lake in the valley floor.
