George A. Wilson




Wilson was Governor of Iowa from 1939 to 1943, and was elected as a Republican to the U.S. Senate for the term beginning January 3, 1943, but was not sworn in until January 14, 1943, continuing as Governor during the interim; his service in the Senate was from January 14, 1943, to January 3, 1949. He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1948 and resumed the practice of law. Wilson died in Des Moines in 1953, and his interment was in Glendale Cemetery.
