is a small town to the south of
Lincoln , in the
County of
Lincolnshire ,
England . It comprises 4,915 dwellings.
It is in the district of
North Kesteven and has its own local
Town Council . It falls within the
Sleaford And North Hykeham parliamentary constituency. The MP for Sleaford and North Hykeham is
Douglas Hogg who has been MP since 1997.
North Hykeham boasts two comprehensive schools:
North Kesteven School (specialising in performing arts) and
Robert Pattinson School on Moor Lane. The only grammar schools in North Kesteven are in distant and one
Methodist .
St Hugh 's is an Anglican church on Harewood Crescent built in the 1960s in one of the housing estates. The other Anglican church is All Saints on the corner of Moor Lane opposite the Harrows public house, and is much older. The
Methodist chapel is situated on Chapel Lane.
Newark Road is built directly on top of the old
Roman Road , otherwise known as
Fosse Way ; it has been numbered as the A1434 road, though until December 1985 it was the
A46 . North of the road is
Hykeham Railway Station on the
Nottingham To Lincoln Line . Much of Hykeham has been built up during the middle of the
Twentieth Century but there has been evidence of settlement there since
Roman times. This is noted in the name of the shopping plaza built in the
1960s called
The Forum .
North Hykeham has five parks, one being Glebe Park which is situated at the back of the Lincoln Green public house, Fen Lane Park which is situated on Fen Lane, "
The Green " Park which is on the old village green, The Memorial Hall park which is part of the
Memorial Hall sporting facilities, and
St Aidan 's park which also contains an old orchard.
There is a large foundry owned called
Lincoln Castings on Station Road, owned by the
Meade Corporation of and tubes. There are many engineering companies on Freeman Road, near the train station, including Siemens (former
Alstom Power ).
