The Ice Cream of Northern Ireland Mauds Ice Cream is made from a traditional recipe based on locally produced fresh milk and cream and comes in masses of mouthwatering flavours! Over 162 flavours have been created over the years - ranging from traditional Vanilla and Mint Choc Chip to the more exotic Cappuccino Coffee Chip and Forest Fruits & Cream. Mauds award-winning ice cream can be found at stores all over Ireland as well as at an increasing number of top hotels and restaurants. Mauds Ice Creams is the largest producer of dairy ice cream in Northern Ireland , supplying over 200 outlets across the whole of Ireland . The History It all began away back in 1982, it was part of a family grocery business, but as its popularity grew it needed an identity all of its own. The head of the family business at that time was called Maud and that sounded perfect and so on Mother’s Day 1982 the very first Mauds Ice Creams sign was erected over the shop in Carnmoney . Right from the start raw ingredients were sourced from top producers. Fresh milk and cream came from local farms and they imported the finest flavours from all over Europe . That was well over 21 years ago but some things never change. Nowadays, Mauds Ice Creams is made in a bright new production facility filled with latest state-of-the-art ice cream machinery, but thay are still using the best local ingredients available and have developed close relationships with a number of quality food producers across Europe. Producers supply Mauds with a large range of fruits and delicious confections to add to our basic recipe to produce a mouth-watering range of flavours. Awards 2004 - Mauds Ice Creams has been crowned the ‘Champion of Champions’ at the annual Ice Cream Alliance National Ice Cream Awards, an award that has never before been won by a manufacturer from Northern Ireland. This is the most coveted award of all and the winner is deemed to be the best ice cream in the country! Mauds beat other, often much larger, manufacturers from all over Great Britain and Northern Ireland to win this prestigious award.The competition acknowledges excellence by recognising and rewarding producers of quality ice cream who show artistic flair and innovation. Mauds has received more than 90 awards over the years from the Ice Cream Alliance, a trade association for retailers and manufacturers of ice cream, but this is their first as ‘Champion of Champions’. |
