Information About

Joel Siegel

Siegel graduated from UCLA and began working as a radio disc jockey and newscaster. He also worked as a freelancing writer and wrote for numerous publications and advertising agencies. He was a joke writer for Robert Kennedy and also for Monty Python in the early years. Through his freelancing work he was offered the book review position with the Los Angeles Times. He moved to New York to become an entertainment critic in the early 70's.

Joel Siegel has also worked for WABC-TV, the ABC flagship local station in New York City , as a film critic since the 1970s.

Among his top movies is the Oscar-winning hit film, '' Ray '', about the life and times of the late Ray Charles , which he calls "one of the best movies I ever saw".

In 2000, he saw the birth of his first child, but it was a mixed blessing. He was diagnosed with advanced cancer, however the cancer's march has been halted, although not entirely cured.

Siegel not only works but makes many public appearances, and looks quite healthy (see ).
