''Dragon Force'' is a strategy-based Video Game from Sega created for the Sega Saturn . It was created in Japan and ported to the U.S. by Working Designs in 1996 . ''Dragon Force'' spawned a Japan-only sequel in 1998 and the first title has now been re-released on the PlayStation 2 as part of the Sega Ages series. =Gameplay= In the begining of the game, the player is asked to pick one general from a group, and throughout the game they will follow the story from that general's point of view. The battles are the same regardless of which general is chosen, how they must be played will of course differ due to differences in starting locations. That story is progressed through short non-animated, manga style cut scenes accompanied by music. Much of the game is spent on the world map, micromanaging troops, and fortresses, and moving men from one location to the next. Periodically throughout the game, the player must enter a set of menus to look over and manage their generals and troops, from examining the status of their generals to handing out awards for troop bonuses, and even persuading captives to join the player's army. For a couple of years after the release of the game, it became extremely sought after due to a low production rate, and the extremely good reviews given by most critics. Ranking on the level of other Saturn RPG's, it is often considered one of the top reasons to own a Saturn. |
