HISTORY Creighton School was founded in Omaha, Nebraska in 1878 , later separating into ''Creighton Prep'' and Creighton University . The school was named after Edward G. Creighton , an Omaha businessman whose wife, Mary Lucretia , left their fortune to the Roman Catholic Bishop to build a school for boys. At that time, the school was given to the Society Of Jesus , known more commonly as the Jesuits. The initial enrollment was 120 students. Famous alumni include University of Notre Dame President John I. Jenkins , Oscar Winner Alexander Payne , musician Conor Oberst , Mount Rushmore sculptor Gutzon Borglum , and Major League Baseball pitcher Scott Munter . JESUIT EDUCATION Creighton Prep shares in the 450 year tradition of Jesuit education that began in 1546 in Messina, Italy . A member of the Jesuit Secondary Education Association , Creighton Prep is one of 45 Jesuit high schools in the United States of America. There are also 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States of America. In 2004, the Catholic High School Honor Roll announced the selection of Creighton Preparatory School as one of the best 50 Catholic secondary schools in America. EXTERNAL LINKS
