Butt made her début in London at the Albert Hall in Sir Arthur Sullivan ’s '' Golden Legend ''. She made many gramophone recordings, always accompanied by the (uncredited) pianist Miss Lillian Bryant. She married a fellow singer, the baritone Kennerley Rumford. Clara Butt was created Dame Commander Of The British Empire (DBE)in 1920, and died at the age of 63 in 1936 . REFERENCES |
