Chenega Island is home to the community of Chenega Bay although a large portion of the community's population migrated to the community of Chenega after the 1964 Good Friday Earthquake and accompanying Tsunami . Chenega Island and its surrounding habitat were also hard-hit by Exxon Valdez Oil Spill in 1989 . |
