Art entered the big time when an unknown performer who called himself " Little Richard " sent Rupe a demo record. Art sent Blackwell to New Orleans to do a recording session with L.R. and the rest is R&R history: LITTLE RICHARD burst onto the just emerging R&R scene with TOOTY FROOTY, LONG TALL SALLY and several other unforgettable HITS. Specialty Records is also noteworthy for its SPECIALTY GOSPEL TWOFER, "The Original FIVE BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA" recordings, now released in a two album/CD: "Stand By Me," and "The Original Five Blind Boys of Alabama: Marching Up To Zion." |
