Sri Lanka and enjoyed a successful international career. He was an important member of the Pakistan team that won the
1992 Cricket World Cup in
Australia and
New Zealand .
Sohail captained Pakistan in six Tests in 1998, becoming the first Pakistani capain to defeat
South Africa in a Test match.
