In two suras, which are to be dated from the first Meccan period, there is a reference to the 'leaves, scrolls' (suhuf) of Abraham and Moses, by which presumably texts of revelation are meant (87:18-19; 53:36-37). The contents of this revelation is not known from the Qur'an. The Documentary Hypothesis is a Hypothesis proposed by many Historian s and Academics in the field of Linguistics and Source Criticism that the Five Books Of Moses (the Torah ) are in fact a combination of documents from different sources rather than authored by one individual. It is possible that the Suhuf-i-Ibrahim are these hypothetical documents Moses used as material to write the 'five Books of Moses'. SEE ALSO |
