Rachel Paiement




Paiement, a Franco-ontarian , was a singer and songwriter for the band CANO in the 1970s . She also appeared as a guest musician on albums by Bruce Cockburn and Connie Kaldor . She once recorded a commercial jingle for Daniel Lanois in the basement of Lanois' family home; Jocelyne Lanois was eavesdropping in the stairwell.

She was also a member of Morgan in the early 1970s , and appeared in theatre productions for the Théâtre Du Nouvel-Ontario .

After leaving CANO in 1980 , Paiement married Jim Vallance , a frequent songwriting collaborator of Bryan Adams , and wrote the French lyrics for " Tears Are Not Enough ". However, she has primarily concentrated on her family, and has not continued to maintain an active music career.
