District Of Burghs Constituency of the
House Of Commons of the
Parliament Of Great Britain from 1708 to 1801 and of the
Parliament Of The United Kingdom from 1801 until 1832. The constituency comprised the
Burghs of
Cupar ,
Dundee ,
Forfar ,
Perth and
St Andrews . In the reforms of 1832,
Dundee and '''Perth''' were established as separate
Burgh Constituencies , with the remaining burghs being transfered to the then new
St Andrews district of burghs.
In 1918
Perthshire East was merged into the Perth constituency. The name was changed to in 1950, and again to '''Perth and Kinross''' in 1983, before reverting to '''Perth''' in 1997. Since 2005, the area has been covered by the
Ochil And South Perthshire and
Perth And North Perthshire constituencies.
As established in 1918, the constituency consisted of-
:"So much of the county of Perth as is contained within the Eastern or Blairgowrie and Perth County Districts, inclusive of the city of Perth and all burghs situated within the said county districts."
