"Kiss from a Rose" is a song from Seal 's Second Self-titled Album . It was featured on the '' Batman Forever '' soundtrack. The movie's director, Joel Schumacher , also directed the video. It was originally planned to accompany a love scene between Bruce Wayne and the character "Chase Meridian" but ended up placed at the end of the film.

The single, the second taken from the movie soundtrack, topped the Billboard Hot 100 for one week in August, 1995. It won 2 Grammy Awards . It was also nominated for a 1996 MTV Movie Award .

It is rumoured by some that "Kiss From a Rose" is potentially about the use of Cocaine . This has been refuted by others, who argue that it is more about the pure love between a man and a woman, similar to the concept of the story of Beauty And The Beast .

With its 3/4 measure (rather uncommon for a pop song) and its danceable tempo, "Kiss From a Rose" is one of the most popular Waltz es written in the 1990s.
