Information About

Ghiyath Al-din Tughluq

Ghiyath al-Din Tughluq (), founder and first ruler ( 132025 ) of the Turkish Muslim Tughluq Dynasty in India . He has been the founder of the third city of Delhi called Tughluqabad .

Ghiyath al-Din rose against rule of Khusraw Khan, who killed Qutb Ud Din Mubarak Shah , the last ruler of the Khilji Dynasty . He was succeeded by his son Muhammad Bin Tughluq .

In the historian Isami's book ''Futuh-us-Salatin'' it is implied that Ghiyath al-Din Balban poisoned his son-in-law Sultan Nasiruddin Mahmud . This act was possibly linked to the issue of control of Lakhnaurti , the ancient Hindu capital of Bengal , which is now known as Gaur , the ruined city.
