Christopher Maurice Brown (born May 5 , 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia ) is an African-American Singer . BIOGRAPHY Chris is known for his singing but Chris Brown discovered his dance talent as he followed the music and careers of the likes of Michael Jackson and Usher . In late 2005, he released his debut single "Run It!", produced by Scott Storch. Originally, "Run It!" was recorded without rapper Juelz Santana but a rap by him was later added to the song in order to make it to appeal to a wider audience, namely rap and hip-hop fans. Upon the release of the single in July 2005 , it managed to climb to #1 on the US Hot 100, where it stayed for five weeks. It was also a big hit worldwide, peaking at #1 in the Australian singles chart and debuting at #2 in the UK. After the release of his debut single, in December 2005, his self-titled debut album '' Chris Brown '' was released. As well as debut single "Run It!" Storch also wrote, produced and contributed to most of the album. '' Chris Brown '' debuted and peaked at #2 in the Billboard Hot 200 albums chart and hit #1 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart. The album also peaked at a very respectable #29 in the UK after "Run It!" was released there in 2006. On January 12th, 2006, Brown's self-titled release was certified Platinum. In early 2006, the second single from the album was chosen as "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" . The track became Brown's second top 10 hit in the US, peaking at #7 and his second top 20 hit in the UK, where it peaked at #13 in April 2006. "Gimme That", which originally appeared at the end of the video for "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)", was eventually selected to be released as the third single from the album. A remix was produced, with an added rap from Lil' Wayne to give it a new twist. The video to "Gimme That", was the third to be directed by Erik White (who also directed "Run It!" and "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)") and was also the second consecutive video that Brown had co-directed. In an interview with MTV in April 2006, Brown stated that he was planning to release two more singles from his debut album. He confirmed the fourth single would be the ballad "Say Goodbye" and also went on to say that he was currently debating whether to release "Poppin'" or "Just Fine" as the final single from the album. He also was Punk'd in 2006. Brown said he's already writing songs for his next album and plans to begin recording his LP in October .
