Central European University




CEU was established in Prague , Czech Republic in 1991 , when an idea of several Central European intellectuals received financial support from George Soros . The university moved to Budapest in 1996 , following political pressure from the Czech government of Vaclav Klaus .

As Of 2003 , Central European University had 100 faculty and 926 students from 76 countries. It offers Master's and Ph.D programs in Social Science s, Law , Business and Mathematics . The official language used at CEU is English.

An undergraduate degree in business, jointly administered with Bocconi University of Milan , Italy, was first offered in 2005.

Soros has endowed CEU with a total of and Cambridge University .

The CEU Business School was established independently of CEU in 1988 as the International Management Center (IMC), and was the first institution behind the Iron Curtain to award American-style MBA degrees.
